Rebecca L. Cohn
Ms. Cohn focuses her practice on domestic relations matters, specifically divorce, custody, and property distribution. She is also a certified Parent Coordinator in Montgomery County. As a court-appointed Parent Coordinator, Ms. Cohn works with parents regarding co-parenting decisions for their children and establishing a framework for parenting following divorce. She is also trained in collaborative law as well as mediation in parenting and child access issues.
Before beginning her family law practice, Ms. Cohn served as a regulatory analyst and lobbyist for medical specialty associations in Washington, D.C. She wanted to apply her skills in advocacy, as well as her understanding of issues faced by working professionals to assist in matters involving divorce, separation, and the division of assets.
Ms. Cohn earned her Juris Doctorate from The Washington College of Law at American University. She also earned her Master’s in Health Administration from Cornell University as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Franklin and Marshall College. Ms. Cohn is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia and is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Bar Association of Montgomery County, and the District of Columbia Bar Association. She is a Washington area native, and a graduate of Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda. She previously served on the boards of the Ring House and Landow House, two Charles E. Smith Life Community properties. Ms. Cohn was a long-standing board member of the Parent Teacher Association at her children’s prior elementary school. She also regularly volunteers at her son’s high school sports program. Additionally, she is a volunteer in the DC Family Court’s Self-Help Center. She resides with her family in Potomac.
Ms. Cohn was named a Rising Star by Washington D.C. Super Lawyers Magazine in 2015 and a Super Lawyer by Maryland Super Lawyers Magazine in 2023 and 2024.
